This is grouped skill scheme designed to have all skills cost 10XP for first level, 20 for second, 30 for third, etc. This assumes that XP awards might be a bit higher than the canon suggested amounts. In this system, characters would probably not be restricted as to what skills they can purchase based on the skill grouping. For each skill in a group, there are tasks that may be performed. There are some tasks listed in the full posting of the skills list, but it is assumed that they need much editing, and probably lots of expansion as needs are identified.

I like your list, and would only add this skill:
Tactics
Success Rate: (INT+Skill)
This is the skill to come up with a set of tactics in combat, and to anticipate your enemy's tactics.
There are several specializations of this skill.
Large Starship: Tactics for fighting a single Hull Size 4+ combat starship or a group of such starships versus opponents of any Hull Size. Level 3 Spacer skill is required; Level 4 or better Spacer skill adds +10 to the Tactics roll.
Small Starship: Tactics for fighting a single Hull Size 3 or less combat starship or a group of such starships versus opponents of any Hull Size. Level 3 Spacer skill is required; Level 4 or better Spacer skill adds +10 to the Tactics roll.
Space Fighter: Tactics for engaging enemy craft of any Hull Size with a single space fighter or group of fighters. Level 2 Spacer skill is required; Level 3+ Spacer skill adds +10 to the Tactics roll.
This skill is also used when engaging enemy combatants with armed shuttles and the like.
Air Combat: Tactics involving air-to-air, air-to-ground or surface-to-air combat. Level 3 in Soldier skill required; Level 4+ Soldier skill adds +10 to the Tactics roll.
Naval Combat: Tactics used in both blue-water(open ocean) and brown-water(coastal or river) naval engagements. Level 3 in Soldier skill required; Level 4+ Soldier skill adds +10 to the Tactics roll.
Large Ground Unit: Tactics used in combat with company-strength or larger units. Level 3 Soldier skill required; Level 4+ Soldier skill adds +10 to the Tactics roll.
Small Ground Unit: Covers tactics involved with combat with units from platoon to fire team level. Level 2 Soldier skill required; Level 3+ Soldier skill adds +10 to the Tactics skill. |
